Hey Guys:) So last month it was my birthday, and to celebrate I threw my own Cocktail Party. It was a really good night and everyone had lots of fun! The concept of the party was that everyone brought the ingredients for a cocktail and then made it for everyone else so we would have a classy, relaxed time.
From L-R: Michaela, Charli, Me.
Just in case you are interested the cocktail Michaela is holding contains Orange Juice, Grenadine, Gin and Golden syrup, and the cocktail I'm holding contains Cranberry Juice, Orange Juice, Vodka and Grenadine, and was very nice!
So today I thought I'd share with you a few things we did and a few other good ideas that you can do at parties, so you'll never struggle again if you need to entertain some guests:)
1. Put the music on really loudly and sing at the tops of your voices.
Okay, so granted this isn't very imaginative, but trust me, put on a good old catchy tune, sing along and get people to join in, and you're onto a winner. No one can resist belting out a song at the top of their voices, and when you're all doing it together everyone has fun:P
2. The Sandwich Game.
Okay, so this wasn't something we did at my party, but when I was younger I used to love playing this at parties, and I don't see why older people can't play it either. How it works is: You take two slices of bread, everyone takes it in turns to choose something to put onto the sandwich (bearing in mind you may have to eat it), and when you feel like it is too horrible to even take a bite out of you say 'I'm out'. The game continues until everyone has said I'm out, and the last person still 'in' is the winner IF they can take a bite of the sandwich and swallow it.
3. Card Games.
Now when someone says card games most people say yawn! But I absolutely love them, however, I'm not the best at them. So I like to play games where it is down to luck rather than skill. For the game we played you have to pick a card off the pack and the person to your right has to guess it. If they get it wrong you tell them higher or lower, and if they get it wrong again they have to take gulps of their drink that is the difference between the number they guessed and the number on the card (I hope that made sense!) However, if they guess it right on the first go, you have to drink the amount that is on the card, and if they get it right on the second go you have to take 2 drinks. See, no skill at all is needed.
4. Charades.
Ahhh, the classic party game. I find charades great because no matter who you are you get competitive. Depending on the party size I always think its best to split up into teams, and to make life easier I would write out the different things onto pieces of paper before hand, and put them into a bowl so people can pick them at random.
5. Two Secrets and a Lie.
Sit in a circle and get everyone to think of two truths and a lie (that is believable), and then you have to guess which one is the lie. It's a great way to find out loads of funny secrets about people that you didn't know before.
6. The Party Awards.
Before the party you need to set out a load of categories that people can then nominate people for. During the party you can take all the nominations and people can vote for a winner. It may not sound like the funnest game, but at the end of the day everyone will love thinking of people at the party for each category, and people will find it hilarious when they find out what they have won and what people think of them. (Just remember, it's all in good spirit!)
7. Who Am I?
Pick a famous person, character or thing and write it on a post-it note. Stick the note onto someone's forehead, and using Yes or No questions only, the person has to guess who they are.
8. Take funny selfies with your friends.
Why not? Post them on Facebook or Twitter the next day so everyone else can laugh along as well.
So there we go, a few ideas to help you out when you are next planning a little get together. Why not leave a comment with ideas you have for a party? I'm always looking for things to do! Thankyou for reading my blog:)) Until next time, byeeeeeeeee:)
